♥ ‘A Love for the Ages’ – Vintage Valentines

♥ Happy Valentine’s Day everyone! In the spirit of this most romantic day of the year, I thought I’d share a few gorgeous vintage Valentines with you. I’m a sucker for vintage illustration anyway, and these are particularly beautiful examples – they even have some fancy die-cuts and gilding that should appeal to any card-makers amongst you! They all date from the 1920s or there abouts, and I think they knock the socks off most modern Valentine’s Day cards. My favourite is the fold-out honeycomb paper ‘gazebo’ (below) – so pretty, so delicate, and such an amazing thing to receive in the mail! As you can see, it doesn’t look much from the back/outside, but imagine opening it up on Valentine’s morning, to reveal that striking, deep red heart inside… so romantic.

Aren’t they beautiful?! I think it’s amazing they’ve survived in such wonderful condition – they must have been absolutely treasured by their lucky recipients. I can certainly see why.

Much love,
