★ Family Portrait by George Eastman House (c.1915)

★ Wonderfully vibrant Autochrome of a family on a day out, by George Eastman House (c.1915). I can’t get enough of early colour photographs like this, because they really show that the past wasn’t all drab shades of brown, black and grey. And I don’t know about you, but (if the photo wasn’t in colour) I’d certainly never have imagined that the mother and daughters’ cardigans were bright red, blue and yellow! The stern expression of the young boy on the left is also great – he looks like quite a character doesn’t he?

Much love,
