★ Spring is in the air and Easter is just around the corner, so it’s time to get cracking on your holiday crafts. Whether you’re making greeting cards, invitations or artwork, these 25 charming antique images of rabbits will give you lots of options and hopefully inspire some truly beautiful creations. First up, we have four delightful drawings from a children’s book dating from 1916. Three are in an unusual (although very appropriate!) carrot orange, and one is a full-colour illustration of two mischievous bunnies making a very narrow escape from a dog!
Similarly cute, here are seven black and white line drawings from a series of children’s tales published between 1918 and 1921.
Next up are four cute watercolour illustrations, all by Beatrix Potter and dating from 1906. So adorable!
Moving a little further back into history, we now have four exquisite antique engravings, all from scientific books and dating from the 1850s to 1900. They’re all so beautifully drawn, the level of detail really is stunning.
If you’re looking for a particular type of rabbit for your project, you won’t go far wrong with these next four images. Dating from 1902, they’re by noted animal painter Jean Bungartz who specialized in illustrating different breeds and their unique characteristics. Does anyone know the specific breeds shown here? And last, but certainly not least, we have two images that originally graced magazine covers. The first is from 1920 and shows two beautiful white rabbits against a glorious blue sky. The second dates from 1908 and features a lovely young woman (with a rather fab Gibson Girl hairstyle!) feeding two cute black and white rabbits with some tasty looking lettuce leaves.
